Deb Markley is a Project Co-Director for the Regional Solutions initiative. Currently a Senior Vice President, for LOCUS Impact Investing, she co-founded the Center for Rural Entrepreneurship and was its co-director between 2001 and 2018. Prior, she was a rural economic development consultant and faculty member at the University of Tennessee, the University of Massachusetts and Purdue University. Deb sits on the Southern Rural Development Center Board and the Healthy Communities Initiative Advisory Council for the Kansas Health Foundation. She is a 2018 Balle Fellow and received her BS and MS in agricultural economics from Cornell University and a PhD in agricultural economics from Virginia Tech.
