Sydney has been in the place-based impact investing space for the last 8 years – first, at the Jessie Ball duPont Fund and now at LOCUS. At the duPont Fund – a place-based foundation in Jacksonville, Florida - Sydney supported the foundation’s grantmaking, research, convening, and impact investing activities. The Fund’s commitment to community leadership, risk-taking, and bold action influenced Sydney’s belief of what’s possible for philanthropy. Today, she uses these experiences to help other place-based foundations and institutions to develop place-based impact investing strategies. At LOCUS, Sydney has helped dozens of foundations to develop, scale, or improve place-based investing programs. She enjoys the variety of mission-driven projects that LOCUS undertakes – including impact due diligence and catalytic fund design efforts like Invest Appalachia! Sydney graduated summa cum laude with High College Honors from Emory & Henry College, a small liberal arts school in Southwest Virginia. Sydney lives in Atlanta, GA with her partner, Hannah, and two cats, Scoop and Winona.
